About Dara
"Dara has been an incredible asset to my son’s education over the past two years, providing essential support in Biology and Chemistry. Beyond her deep science expertise, she has been instrumental in refining his essay writing and overall communication skills.
What truly sets Dara apart is her ability to instill organizational habits, ensuring he stays on top of his assignments. She is a refreshingly tough tutor who holds him for his work, and sometimes the work he doesn't get done. Since working with Dara, we have seen a significant shift in his academic confidence. We feel very fortunate to have her to help him succeed during these critical high school years."

I didn’t grow up in a system that provided a clear academic roadmap. At my Philadelphia arts high school, I pursued creative writing and theater, but had limited access to AP courses, college counseling, or structured academic guidance.
If I wanted to reach my goals, I had to build that path myself. I studied the admissions process deeply, sought out opportunities independently, and even arranged to take AP courses outside of my school.
By senior year, I had developed a strong, self-directed application profile and was accepted to eight of the nine universities I applied to, ultimately attending Brown University.
That experience continues to shape how I approach education and how I support my students today.

A Journey from Experience to Understanding

I began tutoring in 2017 and have since worked with multiple tutoring companies across Los Angeles, along with three years as a substitute teacher. Through this work, I’ve supported students across a wide range of subjects and learning profiles, including ADHD and other learning differences.
One of the most important perspectives I bring comes from my own experience. I was not diagnosed with ADHD until my late twenties, and had unknowingly developed systems to manage it through structure and discipline.
Once I understood how my brain works, I began studying executive functioning more deeply and translating those strategies into sustainable systems for my students.
Supporting students who struggle with focus, organization, and academic confidence is now one of my greatest professional passions.
My Philosophy
At the core of my work is a simple belief: education should open doors, not just to grades or test scores, but to possibility.
My goal is not to push students toward a predetermined idea of success, but to help them discover what excites them and where they want to go. From there, I help build the academic foundation, confidence, and systems that make that future not just possible, but likely.

A Family-Forward Outlook
Most families I work with stay for years. What begins as tutoring naturally becomes a long-term partnership built on trust and understanding.
Over time, I get to know each student as an individual, and together we develop strategies that support both their academic growth and who they are.

Comprehensive Academic Subject Support
I work with students across middle school, high school, and college-level coursework.
Support frequently includes:
• English and literature
• History and humanities
• Introductory and intermediate sciences
• Writing-intensive courses
• Research and capstone projects
• Interdisciplinary coursework
I also assist students with foreign language learning, focusing on the systems and strategies that make language acquisition more intuitive and effective.
Because my work centers on diagnosing how students think and learn, I am able to support a wide range of subjects by helping students master the underlying skills that apply across disciplines.
